Japanese Dirty Harry, the name says it all! I was also a fan of "Kikujiro" I thought it was a really cute story, that showed Kitano has plenty of range as a filmmaker. I just scored a copy of "Dolls" but I have yet to watch it. As for my favorite Kitano film, I'd probably go with Hana-bi if I was forced to choose (I love all of his films). I see it as his magnum opus of sorts, a perfect summation of his works. It also contains perhaps one of the most affecting closing scenes in cinema history for me.
